Christmas Lunch

On Thursday, both nursery sessions were treated to a wonderful traditional christmas lunch by the kitchen team.

All the children tried their traditional meal, and ate up all the turkey and trimmings.

Along with christmas tree (green) or christmas bauble (red) jelly, and a yummy popping candy chocolate bar, the nursery all went home with very full tummies!

A big thank you to the kitchen staff for providing us with such a wonderful meal.

Christmas is coming…

Christmas has started in the nursery. Today we have been learning all about the Christmas story.

Together we read the Christmas story and explored all of the people involved. We used our new dress up clothes and acted out the story.

Here are a few pictures of our day…

Scottish week…

Scottish week is upon us, and the nursery, as always, are celebrating in style.

Today we were learning about lots of different tartans, highland dancing and bagpipes.

The afternoon nursery did an excellent job of making bread rolls for our scotch broth that we will all enjoy tomorrow.

I am becoming aware of the importance of celebrations, festivals and customs in people’s lives.

Let’s go fly a kite…part 1

Pm nursery

Am nursery

Another exciting day in the nursery comes to a close!

The PM nursery were very lucky to have the right kite flying conditions today, so we thought we would take advantage of a windy day. We have been investigating the wind this week, and how we know that it is blowing. Today we were able to use the wind to fly the nursery kite, which was lots of fun!

the AM nursery were very lucky with a very very windy day to fly their kites. We had much more success getting the kite to stay up in the air for longer.

well done to all who gave it a go!

Sorry to all the parents who we’re trying to view the video. Due to a technical hitch I have been unable to upload them yet…but watch this space.

A very busy Halloweeeeeeeeen….

Happy Halloween!

The nursery have had a wonderful week celebrating halloween. We were able to dress up for three nursery sessions and we did so much that I am not sure I am going to be able to get it all into one post.

Thank you to the children and parents for making such a wonderful effort and for having lots of fun with the nursery staff this week.

Here are some of the highlights and photos

On Wednesday, the children had their halloween party with a very special visit to the dining room to have our lovely halloween snack!

On Thursday the AM nursery went to see ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in the hall with the rest of the school. The PM nursery got to go to the Halloween parade as the special guests and judge the costume competition and give out prizes.

We had a very lively week in the nursery but are looking forward to learning about bonfire night, firework safety and Diwali next week.

On Thursday

Calling all parents…

Dear All,

As the October holidays approach, and for some of you this will be your child’s very first term at nursery now complete! Well done, you all made it!

I have a rather odd request. Are any of you out there kite flyers? hobby? amateur? professional? or know anybody that is that you could put me in touch with.

As part of our weather project we will be looking at the wind, and the children are very interested in kites.

If you do, please let me know.

PM nursery, enjoy your October holidays. AM nursery, we will see you in the morning.

Zoolabs presents….snakes, scorpions and toads…oh my!

On Monday, both nursery sessions were treated to a session with Alana from Zoolabs.

Alana brought with her a range of weird and wonderful animals to teach us about using our senses.

Among those animals was ‘Stuart and Nibbler’ the rats, a lovely big toad, a tarantula, a scorpion who glowed in the dark and a very friendly snake.

All of the children were very brave and earned a certificate for the nursery for touching all of the animals.

Thank you to Alana for two very interesting sessions.
