Emergency Procedures

In the event of an emergency or the school having to close, we will use the Parent Cascade list, the Primary School App (PSA), email and our Twitter page  to inform parents immediately.

We will also update this information on this page.

Unexpected Closures

Occasionally it becomes necessary to close the school for example, due to adverse weather conditions, or a breakdown of the heating system.  Every effort is always made to keep the school open however,on occasion,  it may not be possible for a majority of staff or learners to get to school safely, resulting in it  becoming unsafe or impossible either to open the school or for school to remain open, if, for example, the weather deteriorates during the day. With weather forecasting being more accurate these days, we would hope to have advance of heavy snowfall or strong winds etc. If an early decision is made to close the school, we will attempt to broadcast this on Central FM Radio (103.1 FM), on our school app, via text or email and if appropriate telephone call.  Stirling Council’s website will have information on school and road closures, www.stirling.gov.uk.  Signs will be posted at the front and back of the school to inform parents and children also.

If you are phoning the school to find out about closure, please be patient if the line is engaged. If a decision has to be made during the day and staff who do not live in Callander have to leave, then core staff will remain with the children and will  endeavour to contact parents to collect their children as soon as is possible.

We only take the decision to close the school as a last resort.

For this reason, it is vitally important that emergency contact details for parents and carers are kept up-to-date with at least two additional contacts if at all possible.
