Trip To Edinburgh Book Festival

Edinburgh Book Festival

Our school want to the Edinburgh Book Festival. Class two went to see an author called Kaye Umansky. She read breath-taking stories and did great impressions of the characters in her books. After that we went to see another author called Chloe Daykin. Chloe had a really funny assistant. Everyone had a clip board we had to write down how many men we saw hiding in her slide show. She wrote a book called ‘The Boy Who Hit Play’ and it was a fantastic book.

Class one went to see an author called Polly Fader and Emily Mackenzie one book was called ‘Picking A Pooch’ they all said it was a great story and that it was was super funny. They loved the main character ‘Pickle’ who was a dog and the author had a puppet on her hand and she ran around the room with it.

After that we all had lunch sitting outside and then some of us got ice cream. It was a great day and everyone got a book from the book shop.

Differences

Differences between Old and New

I was never at the ‘old’ Strathyre School. I just joined everyone when they were at McLaren High. McLaren High was good but our new school is better. At McLaren it was very noisy as it was open plan, Class 2 were upstairs and Class 1 were downstairs. We could always hear what each class was doing. In our new school we have three big classrooms. At McLaren if it was a wet playtime we had to stay in class 1 room but now we can go to the new P.E hall and Mrs Keenan organises different games every time for us to play. The playground at McLaren was good but sometimes we had to share it with the high school children but now at Strathyre we have the playground to ourselves and it is great. We have a mixture of trees, hill and a flat area. It’s great for playing tig and hiding. I prefer being at Strathyre

Christmas Fair 2018

Our Annual Christmas Fair

On December 7^th we had our Christmas Fair and raised lots of money for our school fund. Each class had their own enterprise making different things. Class 1 made stained glass effect Christmas baubles, picture frames, snow globes and they baked cakes. Class 2 made Christmas cards, tree decorations, gingerbread men. We had a Santa’s Grotto and served tea, coffee and juice. Lots of parents, grandparents and friends of the school came to buy our things. We raised a lot of money for our funds.
