World Book Day

A reminder that tomorrow we are celebrating World Book Day in the School and nursery. Room 4 will be leading our assembly at 9.30am to which families are invited to. There is also a special world book day menu in the dining hall, the menu can be found in the dates section of the app.

All children and staff are invited to come to school and nursery dressed in their pyjamas with a teddy and a book. Onesies, ‘oodies’ and dressing gowns are all acceptable. Children may wish to change when they get to school or have leggings and vests on underneath. Or alternatively, children can come in dressed up in World Book Day costumes.

Please note there is no cost for this day.

The letter previously provided to families with the full World Book Day information can be found by clicking the link below.

World Book Day 2023

Beat the Street

BEAT THE STREET 2022 will run from 14th September – 26th October.  For those of you who haven’t heard of it before it’s a,

“…free, fun initiative that will see East Kilbride transformed into a giant game….  Players collect points by visiting different locations on the map while travelling around the area. Players can walk, cycle, scoot, run or wheel. Collect as many points as possible by visiting Beat Boxes across East Kilbride….

Schools will hand out game material to children aged 11 and under. This will include a card for the child which will already be assigned to the school team along with a separate card for a parent/carer and a map. Participating schools begin distributing these to pupils in the week leading up to the game.”

Families are getting some initial information about it today re: a Twitter post and a message on the school app.  I will talk to the pupils about it at assembly tomorrow.  It’s all about getting pupils, staff and families out and about to ‘earn points’ and possibly prizes.  You can possibly link walks etc. into the school day.
For anyone who wants further information at this point there is a website page.
