Good morning everyone 🙂
I hope you all had a great weekend with your families🌈 I would love to hear what you got up to.
Below is this weeks suggested learning tasks. Remember just to do whatever suits your household best and if you have a spare minute I’d love to see all of your fantastic learning.

Also, Mrs McGarvey has now confirmed the details for this year’s Burnside’s Got Talent! If your child is interested in participating record a video or take a picture of their talent (people have chosen to sing, dance, play an instrument, tell a joke or perform gymnastics, football skills and magic tricks in previous years) and tweet the video or photo of their performance on Twitter between 15th and 19th June. Tweet @burnsideprim and we will retweet. There will also be a special certificate on the app/Twitter for you to download as a thank you for your child’s participation. I can’t wait to see what they come up with!
Spelling
Click the spelling tab at the top to find activities you can do to help your child learn  their words.
CHALLENGE ACTIVITY – Ask your child to write a sentence for each word. Remind them to use V.C.O.P. (Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers, Punctuation) to uplevel their sentences. Here are some ‘sentence stretching ideas’.
VCOP
This week we are going to focus on connectives. In P2, I am looking for your child to be able to join two sentences with the word ‘and’. We have a rule in our class that in our writing, we use a maximum of two connectives in our sentences. Otherwise we forget all about full stops and we write and, and, and all the way through to make one giant sentence. Below are two activities to work on this.
Mild
Hot
Some of us are already very good at this and are starting to also use connectives like ‘because’, ‘but’ and some others. Here’s a challenge option. Â You must choose which fits best ‘and‘ ‘but’ or ‘because’.

Goldilocks Story
Activity 1 – Calculation
Login to study ladder to find your groups calculation revision http://www.studyladder.co.uk
Activity 2 – 3D Shapes
I know we have looked at 3D shape already since we began Home Learning. However, I do suggest the extra practise as shape in particular can often ‘fall out of our heads’ when we don’t revisit and 3D is a bit trickier.
Activity 3 – Doubling
Activity 4 – Halving
If your child is very confident doubling and halving they can try this game to challenge them and encourage quick recall. It gives the option to choose a higher number range and you can increase or decrease difficulty.

June Mini Topics
I am going to provide a choice two different focusses for our ‘Mini Topic’ in June. You can pick one of these to focus on and learn about, you can do both or you can dip in and out of both. Again, this is an overview of suggested activities. You can do these or you can think of your own ideas relevant to the topic. These topic webs make reference to some resources. I’ll link these in the ‘Social Studies’ tab at the top.Â
Mrs Lindsay found this from Aldi and it has some great eco friendly art and crafts ideas to do at home.
