As Remote Learning for our Primary 4 – 7’s comes to an end today, we would like to reach out to every single one of our families to say a huge well done! Well done for facilitating Remote Learning for your children at home whilst working yourselves, looking after young children or other family members and simply trying to navigate life through a Global Pandemic. You have been fantastic, as have our children. Whether you have managed to do every piece of work with your child, just a little each day, or even some days none, we think you have all been amazing. The most important thing is that your child feels safe, loved and cared for. Catching up with Literacy and Numeracy will come. Our children’s health and wellbeing is the priority and will continue to be when they return to school. You have done it! You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves.
All the staff at Kirkton Primary have worked tirelessly to give your child quality learning experiences. They have become experts in using technology and have adapted their teaching methods for online learning. As well as our teachers and support staff working with their own class, they have been supporting children’s learning in the Emergency Key Worker Support Hub to allow our parents who work on the front line, to carry out their essential role in the efforts against Covid 19.
Throughout this period of Lockdown, we have received many messages of support and thanks for the Emergency Key Worker Support Hub and Google Classroom, which we truly appreciate. We would like to share some of them with you in this message of positivity:
- “As a family it helped enormously because we had no childcare and I was working full time and unable to take time off to watch my youngest child and home school. From a well-being point of view it was a tremendous help.”
- “I have been able to attend work as a key worker, as has my husband, during this lockdown. It has relieved the pressure and worries of my children missing school work whilst I am not present as well.”
- “My children managed to compete most work during days spent in the hub. They felt supported and had fun and were always happy to go back the next day.”
- “The suport my child has received throughout Lockdown has been tremendous. His class teacher was always there to answer any questions. Please pass on our heartfelt thanks and appreciation.”
- “The staff at Kirkton Primary are working extremely hard to keep my child learning and happy during this time. We are very grateful.”
- “It was great for my child to see their teacher on live Meets. It kept motivation up!”
This is our message of thanks to each and every one of you. The Kirkton team sprit has prevailed and we have met this challenge head on, together. We will be delighted to welcome the rest of our children back on Monday and finally have our family complete.
We wish you all the best over the next couple of weeks as the children transition back into school life. As always, we are here to listen if you need us.
With thanks,
The Kirkton Team
