Head Teacher’s Welcome

Welcome to the Kirkton School family! I am proud to be the Headteacher of this school and look forward to seeing your child flourish in this environment. At Kirkton Primary we have high expectations. We wear our uniform with pride as it represents our heritage and the warm, caring community. We value relationships and leadership at all levels and ensure everyone feels included. We build upon our resilience skills to adapt to the ever-changing world that we life in and use Emotion Works to support this.

We are active in our learning and the Curriculum for Excellence provides us with a balanced progressive curriculum which enhances our knowledge and skills to meet our local context and personalised to meet our needs. We strive to be responsible citizens, effective contributors, successful learners, and confident individuals. You will see and hear children engaged in their learning and having fun. We love to celebrate our wider achievements and recognise them through our Rainbow recognition awards each week at assembly and at Feedback Friday!

Our key driver is ‘Learning for a Better World’, now that we are recovering from the pandemic. We recognise that technology is prevalent to our society and necessary to enhance communication.

The children are aware of their rights and we have achieved a silver award to ensure that all children have equity and equality. We value pupil voice and encourage children to set their own targets in their learning.

Our parents work in partnership with the pupils learning at home, within the school and at various fundraising events. We love to share our learning through assemblies to our community, social media, and visits to local care homes.

We regularly evaluate aspects of the school to ensure we provide the best learning opportunities and that they are in line with national and local priorities. Should you wish to discuss your child’s progress or have any other concerns please do not hesitate to contact the school. We will endeavour to deal with any concerns you may have promptly in a caring and sensitive manner.

I look forward to working with your family.
