News Reporters week commencing 30th October

There will be no news reporters this week due to it being Halloween.

Last week, Jack Higgins created a great Power Point telling us about Hurricane Ophelia.  The radar photos were particularly good!  Jack Carlisle brought us the really unique story about the moon photobombing the sun.  He also showed us a really interesting photo of the sun where scientists had filtered out the UV light and used green so that we could see the sun’s heat.  Well done boys!

Homework week commencing 9th October

For spelling this week, follow the list at the beginning of your homework jotter for 9th October.  LSCWC 3 times, do 1 activity from the inside cover and input your words to Spelling City.

At some point later on this week, everyone will be retested on the 1 minute oral times tables test.  Whilst the questions will be in the same format, they will not be in the same order as the original test.  After the October week, you will receive a copy of your test home to allow you to see how you have improved so keep practising as much as you can this week!!

Finally, please make sure that you are doing some reading each night (approximately 10 minutes), either your home lending book or your own personal book.

Homework week commencing 2nd October 2017

Homework this week is the spelling list for week commencing 2nd October.  Most people have been very good at following the LSCWC structure, choosing an activity from the front inside cover and going on spelling city and this has been reflected in their high scores.  Well done!

Remember to keep practising your times tables as your date for re-test is getting closer.  Also make sure that you do some form of reading each night.

We are still working on mental addition in class.  Anyone wishing a further homework challenge can try the board games below;

French visitors 21st September

On Thursday Miss Denholm, from Cathkin High, and Eilidh, a sixth year pupil, came to visit us.  They taught us how to say the names of pets in French.  Once she had taught us how to pronounce the words, Miss Denholm then said the name of a pet in  French and we had to draw what animal we thought she had said.  It was a lot of fun!

Homework week commencing 25th September

For homework this week, follow list 4 (25th) September in your homework jotter.  Due to the shorter week, the Spelling City task is optional this week.  For maths, keep practising those tables!!

We are working on mental addition skills in class for the next two weeks.  If you wish an additional challenge, then you can play the number bonds games to 20 and 100 on the left hand side of our Blog.
