Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL)

Our Outdoor Play areas are changing all the time and we want our children to enjoy using them. In order for them to do this, they need to feel dry and warm so supplying them with the correct equipment will help to make their experiences much more enjoyable.

Where possible, children should have access to waterproof trousers & jackets, wellies and warm layers. Sending these items in a labelled bag that hangs on their peg is a great idea. This applies to ALL stages!

If you have things your child has grown out of, we will happily recycle them for you!

Infant Enrolment Week – January 2024

Registration of children starting school – Is your child due to start school in August 2024?

Parents/carers of children who are five years of age between 1 March 2024 and the end of February 2025 are required to register their child for starting school.

To enrol your child at school you are asked to complete an online registration form which will be available from Monday 8 January 2024. Your catchment school will be in touch with you to arrange a discussion between Monday 15 January – Friday 19 January.

Please visit our catchment area checker to select your catchment school and register your child. School catchment area maps – South Lanarkshire Council

Car Park Safety

At the Parent Council meeting earlier this week, the safety concerns of the car park were raised again. This is an ongoing issue and one that we have struggled to improve over the years. The rules have been sent home on many occasions and staff have tried to be visible in the car park area to remind users of the need for safety but the issue still remains. We have raised this with the council for support over the years too. If you have a suggestion of how to improve things, please get in touch.

The photograph attached gives clear information – please note that there are 3 new spaces at the front of the school too. If another member of your family uses our car park, please pass the information to them too. This means we all keep the area safe

The arrangements for the car park are as follows:-

· Park in a parking space

· All Parents, Carers, Staff and children must follow the rules of the road within the car park, such as – park in a space to drop or collect your child, cross at the crossing

· The 3 spaces at the front of the school are for Blue Badge holders only

· Once in the gate, pedestrians should stay on the path

Please use our car park safely to keep our children, parents, staff and visitors safe.
