Happy Monday Room 13!

First week in a long time where I don’t think anything ‘extra’ is happening!  You have worked super hard the last couple weeks and because our enterprise project was such a HUGE success, I will only be giving out spelling homework this week.

Please write each word out 3 times.

Please create a complex sentence for each word too.

We are so so so close to having a 100% homework record… let’s make it our target for this week!

Please remember outdoor wear for PE tomorrow.  The rain came in thick and fast last week so a waterproof jacket and joggies / leggings would definitely be best! A hoodie and shorts will not keep you dry!

Ready to have another amazing week with you all!

A brilliant day and Mr Campbell, Mrs McGarvey and myself are so so proud of you all! Well Done Again!

Please remember (weather pending) we will be making our way to the tennis courts for PE tomorrow.  Even if it is dry, it has been extremely cold so make sure you bring WARM PE kit with you.  Joggies, leggings, jumper, waterproof jacket and even gloves would be fine to bring along with you.

Homework due Wednesday 5th January

Happy Monday Room 13!

The next two weeks are going to fly by as we are off this Friday and then the following Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday!

Please can I ask, anyone who has not returned their enterprise letter back to me, to do so ASAP.  With the holidays that we have, our enterprise project is going to be here before we know it.  So we need to start organising what each person will be bringing on the day!

Only two small pieces of homework this week as it will be due in on Wednesday.  We have been doing SO well with our homework record this term… let’s keep it up!

Can you please read Chapter 21 – again I ask that you read this aloud to a member of the family to help you practice your fluency and tone with reading.

Please complete the ten maths questions in your jotter.  I have used the chilli challenge, so please choose mild, spicy or hot to complete in your jotter (make sure you write the title at the top of your page so I know which one you have completed).  I will have copies of these questions in class to take home too.

Dream Team Room 13 (thinking this could be our new class moto!)

Let’s have an amazing week.

Homework Due Friday 31st January

Happy Monday Room 13!

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and are looking forward to the week ahead.  Please remember we now have tennis outside, at the tennis courts, so please bring along warm outdoor clothing for Monday afternoons!

Letters will also be going out this week to find out who can help us with some home baking for our enterprise project… 3 weeks to go!

Finally two big WELL DONE’S to share with you all!  Firstly a big well done to Stephen (Room 13) and all the Burnside Sportshall Athletics Athletes who competed on Friday and brought home the gold for Burnside Primary School, what an amazing achievement! Second, a huge well done to my amazing pupils who spoke during the Scots assembly on Friday (Stella, Ruby, Campbell, Zoe, Aicha, Hollie and Leah), you all performed with such confidence… WELL DONE!

Homework for this week will be spelling tasks, reading and topic.

Write each of your spelling words out three times.

Can you also choose 5 words and create a complex sentence for each.  This means more than a 3 or 4 word sentence.  Try and include one connective in each sentence such as ‘and’ ‘because’ or ‘however’.

Please read Chapter 18 at home.  I am hoping you could find the time to read this to someone at home (parent, carer, sibling etc…) to let them hear your confidence and fluency when reading a text.  If you have time to do this, please have them write a short comment in your homework jotter to let me know their thoughts on how well your reading is coming along!

Finally, we are now working towards our ‘Presidential Presentations’ which will be delivered in February.  This week I would like you to research 5 interesting facts about your chosen president and write them into your homework jotter.  Please try to avoid simple facts such as ‘name, age, birthday, place of birth’ etc… as you will have time to research this in ICT on Tuesday.  The more interesting the facts… the more interested your audience will be during these presentations!

We were so close to 100% homework record last week… let’s make that our goal for Friday!

Ready to have an amazing week with you all!

Miss M 🙂

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Room 13 will be running an enterprise project on Friday 7th February.  This is to help raise money for our school trip to the Emirates Arena.

We will be hosting an American themed diner and we need your help!!

Pupils from Room 13… take a look at all the ideas that we came up with today and speak to the people you know to see if they would be able to help make and donate some home baking for our project.  The more American themed the better!

I do not ask that a huge amount of money is spent doing this.  We will be making some of our own things to sell in class.  However any help that can be provided is greatly appreciated as we don’t have a lot of time!!

I will send out a letter on Monday asking you to confirm if you are able to help.  But hopefully, pupils of room 13, you can come back to me on Monday morning with some great ideas!

Have an amazing weekend… you’ve worked very hard so deserve a couple days off!

See you on Monday 🙂

Homework due 17th January

Happy Monday Room 13!

Time to get back into the routine of weekly homework.   This week we will start with Spelling and Reading homework.

Spelling words should have been copied into your homework jotter (Monday in class).  Please write out each word three times.

Choose 5 words and write out their dictionary definitions too.

Please read Chapter 12 of Street Child and answer the following questions in your homework jotter.

  1. Page 96, find a quote which describes the fire in the cottage where Jim used to live. How does the quote help us visualise what the fire looked like?
  2. Page 97 why did Jim and Rosie make such a good team?
  3. Using information from p99, in your own words, describe what you think the school teacher looks like? Think about what Jim could see and could hear.
  4. Using the information from p105, in your own words, describe the two different places Shrimps would sleep at night.
  5. In your own opinion, who do you think Grimy Nick is? What do you think he is going to do with Jim?

Please remember to add a title and date in your homework jotter before completing any of these tasks!!

Anyone still to return a note of interest form for our school trip, please remember this MUST be returned no later than Wednesday.

Was wonderful to hear all about your Christmas holidays and was lovely to have you all back in class.  Looking forward to another great week!

It’s Almost Christmas!!

Happy final Monday Room 13!

First of all I would just like to say a massive well done for putting on a week of amazing Christmas performances!  Your singing and dancing was fantastic and the audience clearly loved your songs!

A huge thank you must go to all my P6’s and P7’s who have helped throughout the week with stage organisation, nativity, selling raffle tickets and generally helping out with the Christmas performances.  The shows would not have run as smooth as they did without your help!
