Thankyou to our amazing cooks who served up a fantastic Christmas Dinner on Wednesday.
It was delicious.
Last week the Health Committee asked the classes to write poems about anti-bullying.
They judged the entries and selected one winner from each class.
Here are our winning writers with their certificates which the Health Committee presented them with in assembly. Bobby Anderson was then judged as overall winner with his poem called ‘Bullying is not Good’.
The winning poems will be on display during next weeks parents appointments.
P1/2 have been baking and we all wore our pyjamas or spots today to take part in Children In Need. We have raised an amzing £155.20 with a few more pennies to count that came in late.
Thank you to everyone for your support.
In assembly we thought about “Just Be You, Wear Blue” and how we can stop bullying behaviours in school.
We all voted on the order of the next three things we would like to do in school to help stop bullying behaviours and support each other if we feel sad or excluded.
Last week we have been focussing on Growth Mindset, positive language and being happy. The Health Committee have been busy finding out what we all do to cheer ourselves up if we feel sad, frightened or anxious.
On Monday we had a visit from the NSPCC and Buddy, spreading the message about who we can talk to if things are tough. We also learned the Childline number.

On Friday we had a great morning with parents, grand-parents, friends and family coming along to take part in our coffee morning. Our focus was promoting good mental health. We had dispaly up in the hall and resources from Mind Your Head to help spread the message.
Thanks to all the wonderful support, we raised £295.58 which we will split between the NSPCC and Mind Your Head.
Getting ready
Everyone enjoying the morning
Last Friday we had a brilliant afternoon when Andy Stanton, author of the “Mr Gum” books visited Whiteness Primary to speak to the P3-7 classes. Our Early Years and P1/2 class enjoyed a bookbug session with Morag Nicholson from the Shetland Library. Burravoe Primary School, and our community came along to join us too.
Andy had lots of fun with the pupils, he was pretty crazy and completely on their wave length, it was so lovely to look around the hall and see a mass of smiling faces. We hope too, that he has inspired our pupils.
Today we finished off the school year with a Whole School Walk.
It was brilliant. Have a great summer holiday.
Goodbye to our wonderful P7’s.
A beautiful day at Whiteness Primary to do a bit of den building.
All the pupils at Whiteness Early Years and Primary enjoyed a beautiful sunny day for Sports Day this year. All pupils participating had a great day, lots of effort seen and some new talents discovered.
Final results in show:
1st GREENA with 441 points
2nd Hoy with 382 points
3rd FLOTTA with 304 points.
Thank you to Mr Kirkness for organising the day and for all the staff, Parent Council and parents who got stuck in and helped with making the day run so smoothly.
