Holly and Caoilinn’s Christmas fundraiser

On Friday the 14th of December we held a christmas fundraiser to raise money for the school. We have been organising the fundraiser since October and are really proud of all the money we raised. We organised some exciting games and we sold reindeer dust and magic keys. All the classes game from early years up to P6/7 and school staff. We’d like to thank all the pupils/staff who came and had a shot at our games and for helping us raise an amazing amount of money. We raised over £167.00!

Here are the winners of the games:

We will now work with the pupils in the school to see what they think the school needs and what usful thing it could be put towards to.

We really enjoyed doing this and had lots of fun organising it too.

Euroquiz Final

This year four pupils, Caoilinn, Bobby, Holly and Zander went to the Euro-quiz heats in Shetland and won. On 13th of May they travelled to Edinburgh to take part in the finals. All the schools that won their heats went to the final which was held in the debating chamber of the Scottish parliament on the 14th.

There were four rounds and all the teams took part in three. The rounds were geography, language and understanding Europe. The last round was for the two leading teams. There were buzzers and microphones and the team who got the most points won the Euro-quiz 2018.

Whiteness was representing Shetland for the quiz and came 16th out of 31 teams that were in the finals. 472 teams took part in their local heats.

They had a great time going inside the parliament and seeing Edinburgh and have learned a lot more about Europe on this experience.

They would like to say thank you to all the support and encouragement we have had from teachers and parents and another thank you to the Scottish parliament and all the people who made Euro quiz 2018 happen!
