S1 STEM Workshop

S1 pupils had a visit from Emma Chittick, Scott Summers and Katie Bristow from Skills Development Scotland on Tuesday.

Scott and Katie introduced the idea of career management skills to the class, including discussion around jobs of the future,  then Emma led a session on the development of a driverless car.

Pupils were then able to programme Lego Robots to drive around a circuit without crashing into each other. They developed computer coding skills as well as communication and teamwork.

Pupils said that they really enjoyed the workshop, using the robots and learning about cars of the future (though they didn’t think the American prototypes were very bonny!)
