Insect adventures!

Joe took some caterpillars into nursery to show us last Friday. The bairns were very excited by them and asked if we could go on a walk to look for more. We also used the scavenger hunt from Peerie Ooricks ‘Going Furt’pack so we got wir magnifying glasses ready and set off on wir adventure.

We found worms straight away on the path then we went to the Wild Garden where the bairns were convinced we wid find bears too!

Next stop was the polytunnel. We found frogs in there but they were too fast for the teachers to catch! We also found a massive pumpkin growing! And apples, which we took back to nursery. We had a look at the pond but did not see any frogs there this time.

We saw lots of insects on wir walk and found lots of different coloured things to match up to the scavenger hunt we were doing.

When we got back to nursery we cut up the apple and tasted it, it was delicious. We gave some to the worms and the caterpillars too! We also had a look at all the things we had gathered on wir walk. We even found books in nursery with some of the creatures inside them. Then Andy found a slug in the garden he took in to show wiz and it pooped on him!

Back to nursery!

The summer holidays are over and everyone is very excited to be back at nursery! The first week was spent welcoming our new bairns and reminding our preschoolers of all our routines. The weather was very good too so we spent a lot of time in the garden. It’s good to be back!
