We have been very busy this last few weeks!
We built a bug hotel in the garden. We went to the wild garden to find twigs, branches and leaves to put in it. We are really hoping the bugs move in shortly. No sign of any yet, but if we find any in the nursery or the garden we are moving them in!
We just love playing out in the garden. Garden play really helps develop our gross motor development, enhances our ability to assess risky situations and helps our fine motor skills development too.
As part of Reading Week we were very excited when the big S3’s came over to read to us. They read us lots of stories then we took them for a play in the nursery. We had great fun and hope they will come back to see us again!
On World Book Day we were so excited our mums and dads could come in to join us for a story and craft session with local author Ann Marie Anderson, who read us her brand new book ‘Hirda the Oorick’ and made peerie oorick’s with wiz. Then we went to the library to show wir mums all the books in there too.
Last week we went to the shop for a walk to get some seeds for planting. We saw signs that spring was definitely trying to happen while we were walking there! When we got back to nursery we planted the seeds into tubs and now we are watering them every day to see if anything grows!
One of wir bairns did a really cool flower experiment at home and sent the photos in to us to show us how to do it. We got white flowers so they would hopefully show the dye up better and it’s working!!
We have been going down to the canteen on a Tuesday. We have been doing obstacle courses this last couple of weeks. This is really good for wir gross motor development and learns wiz to balance!
On Wednesday we went for a walk and found lots of frog spawn in the pond at the secondary! We can’t wait to visit again to see if any tadpoles have hatched. Today when we came to nursery there was frog spawn in the water tray! It was very gloopy.
In and out among all those exciting things we have been doing, we are of course still playing and learning in the nursery too.
And last but not least here is wir latest photos da bairns have taken themselves on the ipad, always da most natural ones haha!!
