We have been learning about symmetry, we’ve had a go at making our own symmetrical patterns and spotting patterns in the world around us. Then we made our own symmetrical butterflies.

Egg Challenge
We enjoyed our science afternoon , with the visiting trainee astronauts. Some of our eggs didn’t survive though!
Sports Day!
We really enjoyed our sports day this term and the weather stayed dry too!
Term 4 – Sunflowers
We planted our own sunflowers, after learning about how seeds grow and what plants need to thrive. We also learnt about Van Gogh and had a go at creating our own Van Gogh inspired sunflowers.
Weekly Overview.
We have had a busy start to the new term. Our Topic this term is, ‘In the Garden.’ and we have been looking at all the trees, animals and plants in our own school garden to plan and think about what we would like to learn. The class wants to learn more about the environment and would like to learn more about trees. A number of us said we would like to plant things, make birdfeeders and to build bug hotels. We were also pleased to see the trees planted as part of the queen’s green canopy in our school garden.
We have started to learn about money in active ways, we have set up a shop and can identify all the coins. We are learning to calculate totals and have started to calculate how much change we can get.
Our handwashing experiment has thrown up some interesting results, as you can see from the pictures it is best to wash your hands to keep the germs off. We were shocked to see that the hand sanitiser does nothing, almost as bad as not washing your hands at all!
Weekly update
What a busy week we have had, learning to divide by two, within 20 and with larger numbers, practising our final blends, taking part in a Sumdog competition and starting a science experiment to show which will have the most germs. The class think the laptops will have the most germs and that the hand sanitised hands will have the least, we will just have to wait and see! We’ve also made hands to show how our tendons work and displayed these in the corridor, we really enjoy making them move!
