Things People Do For Easter From Around The World
There are many different Easter Traditions. Here are a few: decorating eggs, hiding the easter eggs, rolling the eater eggs down a hill, easter egg hunts, Easter feasts often featuring ham or lamb, hot cross buns in the UK, the white house Easter egg roll in the US, hollowed – out eggs filled with confetti broken above people’s heads, people throw water at each other on easter in Poland and lastly egg tapping in Greece.
Why They Do Some Of Those Traditions
People decorate eggs because it symbolizes new life, people in Greece tap eggs to symbolise the resurrection of Jesus and victory over death. People do egg hunts to represent the discovery of Jesus’s empty tomb. People roll easter eggs down hills to represent the rolling away of the stone from Jesus’s tomb. People in the UK eat hot cross buns on easter to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus. People in Poland throw water to symbolize spring purification and cleansing of sins.
