Congratulations to our P7 STEM Group, who came runners up in the ‘Celebration of STEM’ Event at the Shetland Museum & Archives in April. Schools from all across Shetland participated in the Event, which saw groups showcasing their projects and participating in a ‘Construct A Crane’ Challenge where teams received free kit to design and build a working model crane.

Our Footballers aren’t they only ones to have made it to the Finals of their league games. Our Sound Swifts Team played in the Final of the Schools Netball North League and played very well, placing 2nd overall in the North League – Well Done Sound Swifts!
Many thanks to all parents for their support and a special thanks to our netball coaches, Jennifer and Alina.

Well Done to our Sound 1 Football Team who played in the Schools South League Final on Monday night. The top 2 teams from the 2 winter leagues met at Scalloway and Sound 1 played Aith, Tingwall, Baltasound and South Mainland. In a very closely fought last match, Sound 1 came away runners up after some great games of football.
A huge well done to all involved and parents for their support.
A special thanks to Tony for accompanying the Team to all their games this season, and to both our Sound School Parent Council and the Tesco Stronger Starts Grant Scheme for funding the purchase of new strips for both our Netball and Football Teams 🙂

Back in May 2025 pupils from P5-7 worked with the ‘A Place In Childhood Team’ and members of the SIC Development Plans & Heritage Dept on an experiential mapping session.
During this day, pupils co-created:
The final stage of the plan culminated in a half-day Showcase event where pupil representatives presented their ideas directly to local stakeholders.
Mrs Birrell accompanied our representatives to Islesburgh last week, where they did a fantastic job of sharing their ideas for change in their local community!

Primary 3 are hoping to spread a little happiness this year by taking part in the Shoebox Appeal 2025. Please have a look at their video about how you can be involved. Thank you 🙂
Steve Birrell Photography was in school lately to take a whole school photo, what luck we had a beautiful day!

Please find below a link to our 2025 House Captains video, where they share information about our school improvement priorities for the year. Further video updates will be shared during the year.
Thank you for watching!
Happy Holidays Everyone 🙂
Please find below a final video from our P7 House Captains for this year – a quick round up of our school improvement priorities and, very importantly, announcement of the House Team Winners for the year!
Wishing you all a peaceful, fantastic Summer!
Please see below poster about fencing taster sessions for girls, which we have been asked to share on behalf of Active Schools.
