We have been working in groups doing sums.
We had to look at sums and find the answer. We also had to remember to write in the equals sign.
Once we had finished our sums we had to glue our sums onto the poster with the same number as our answer. We had to remember to look at the ANSWER to our sums as there were lots of numbers in our sums!
Today we had a visit from Angela Hopwood. She spoke to us about how to keep our teeth happy and healthy.
We had to think of foods that were ‘Happy Teeth’ foods and foods that were ‘Sad Teeth’ foods.
We learned that fruit is healthy and good for us to eat but fruit that has been changed (like when grapes are changed into raisins or apples are changed into apple juice) are not as good for our teeth as they have lots of sugar in them.
We have been doing a word hunt in the classroom.
We had to find our spelling words and then write them down.
We found them in lots of different places, even on the windows!
We had to sound out each word to check that it was the spelling word for our own group.
We really enjoy meeting up with our buddies to learn things.
This week we worked with our buddies to learn the days of the week. We have been working on this in maths this term so our buddies made us some activities to help us.
They helped us to read the words and then we had to put the days in the correct order.
We also had to write out the days which came before and after each day. We found that a little bit tricky, but our buddies were able to help us.
We love buddy time!
We have been busy preparing for Up-Helly-Aa. We are very excited about it! We have been practising the songs and have made some torches! We also painted big pictures of guizers for the canteen.
We painted kitchen roll tubes brown to make our torches.
Then we glued bits of red and yellow shiny stuff (cellophane) onto cardboard flames and then we glued the flames onto a bun case! Then Mrs Grant stapled the bun case to the top of our torches.
Three cheers for Up-Helly-Aa!
We have been learning about the fruit and healthy eating. We learned about fruit having seeds inside.
Mrs Grant cut up some fruit with a sharp knife and we looked at the inside of the fruit to try to find some seeds!
The inside of the fruit had different patterns in it. We thought the inside of the apple looked like a star!
The banana had tiny seeds! We could hardly see them. Some people didn’t realise that bananas had seeds inside them!
The pear also had really peerie seeds.
We really enjoyed looking at the fruit. After we had looked at it we all washed our hands and then we got to taste a bit of each fruit. It was delicious!
