Learning Grid Term 4 P2B Week 2

___________________________________________________________________________

Good morning everyone!

Hopefully all managed to find your way here this morning so I can share some activities with you for the next three days!

We will be using a very simple learning grid with some activities that can be carried out on whichever day of the week you chose. This is new for all of us including me so we will see how we get on and change things around if needed!

Remember to send me in some photos if you can, and that you don’t need to do everything on the list – just as much as you can!

Hope you all have some fun and I’ll check in and see how you’re getting on throughout the week!

Hello everyone,

It’s good to be in touch with you again. I hope you have managed to enjoy the holidays.

Mr Aitken has been busy getting some activities for you to do this week. Next week, I’ll add some things into your Learning Grid, to help keep you busy!

Take care,

Mrs Baxter

Things to keep busy!

Hello everyone.

Here are a few websites you could try accessing at home to help your child learn.

www.ictgames.co.uk. There are lots of Literacy and Numeracy games to play on this site.

Try ict games date chart. You will then be able to access the daily calendar for days of the week, numbers and months of the year. It has the weather too!

Try ict games date chart francais and you will be able to speak about days of the week, numbers and months of the year in French! French weather too!

www.topmarks.co.uk is another great site for Literacy and Numeracy.

Try Stop the clock Game 1 – for work on o’clock and half past.

www.sumdog.co.uk and www.teachyourmonstertoread.co.uk are excellent too.

Try www.gonoodle.com to keep active.

www.mathsisfun.com is worth a look.

www.twinkl.co.uk is used by many teachers. At the moment it has free activities for parents to access. It has Home Learning Packs for all ages. The home learning pack has a variety of English, Maths and Science activities to try with your child at home.

We would love to see any photos of your home learning at a later date.

Of course getting outside, playing a board game, following a recipe when your child is weighing and measuring are brilliant. Writing a story, keeping a journal, writing a letter, reading a story to an adult or sibling, making a card for someone are all really worthwhile.

More Measuring!

We are still enjoying our Wednesday measuring!

We are measuring items using straws. We are finding out lengths by measuring using cubes. And now we have started to use metre sticks.

Working with a partner helps us with any tricky items to measure.

We always estimate first, then check our results.

Measuring Length!

On Wednesdays, we are measuring! We have been using handspans to measure items in the classroom. It has been fun to estimate and then check, to find out how long an item is.

We have also been using our footsteps to measure length too! Again, we are estimating and then checking our results.

It’s a fun way to measure lengths, and it also keeps us fit and active too!

We are learning French in Primary 2.

We are learning the days of the week and the months of the year in French. We are enjoying counting in French too. Trying to say the daily calendar in French is fun! There are a lot of different  types of weather in Shetland to talk about! We will keep practising!

Bonfire Night!

We have had a lot of fun creating Fireworks pictures!

We really tried to make them bright and cheerful.

We used shiny paper, sequins, pipe cleaners, stickers, chalk and glitter.

We made rockets using triangular and rectangular shapes.

It was great to choose what we needed to make our pictures, and to share our resources.

We also wrote Bonfire Night Safety Rules. We thought of many safe and sensible rules. We wrote using neat writing, finger spaces, capital letters and full stops.

We have been learning about 2D and 3D Shape in Primary 2

We have had a lot of fun building with 3D shapes. We have been using our imaginations to come up with lots of interesting designs and models.

We have using our knowledge of 3D shapes to sort and classify everyday objects.

We have been learning about the properties of 3D shapes, including counting the faces of these shapes.

It has been fun to make shape patterns with 2D shapes.

We have enjoyed making 2D shape patterns and pictures. We have learned about corners and edges.
