In Art p5 have been learning how to form models using newspaper.
We started by drawing and researching creatures that live in and around Lerwick harbour.
After choosing our favourite one we learned how to manipulate newspaper to create a 3d model of it. We used cellulose paste and tissue paper to cover them and add details.
They all worked extremely hard and have done a fantastic job, well done p5! 😍
In Art p5 have been using Styrofoam to create a snowman block print.
First we came up with an image of a snowman then transferred it onto the Styrofoam, pressing into it with a pencil to create an indent. We then had a block which could be used to produce many prints and make Christmas cards.
The class really enjoyed this project, learning about the process of rolling, inking, and printing.
Here are the first prints they took from their block….😍
On Friday, we went for a walk with P5A to see some frogs. It was great fun and we spotted lots frogs! This linked in to our water topic and looking at water habitats.
Today we were creating music using technology. We were exploring different sites to create lots of different sounds and music. This is always fun! We especially loved sharing what we created with our friends.
We explored different materials and discovered whether or not they dissolved. We also found out the differences made when using warm or cold water for this and stirring.
Following on from this, we completed an experiment using skittles. We learned that warm water helps to dissolve the sugar in the skittles which makes the colours come out into the water.
As part of our topic on water, we investigated different materials and predicted whether they would float or sink. We then tested these out in groups to see if we were correct.
