Art Trip

For our Art Lesson p5 had a visit to Da Gadderie at the museum.  We went to see the Art’sCool exhibition.

The exhibition is a display of art work produced by pupils aged P1-S6, from schools all over Shetland.

Everybody enjoyed looking at and talking about the artwork on show. After spending some time talking about it all, pupils chose their favourite pieces to analyse and sketch from.

It was so lovely to get out and view some “real” artwork.
A very good time was had by all! 😊

Ambulance Service Visit

We had a visit from Laura and Stuart from the ambulance service. They gave us information about what to do in an emergency, including which number to call.

They also showed us how to put someone in the recovery position (shown in one of the photos below) and talked us through some of their equipment that they carry around with them. We got the opportunity to try on some of the equipment that they need to wear.

Everyone found it very interesting and the class were able to discuss what they had learned afterwards.

STEM – Space Junk

Emma Chittick recently visited our class for two sessions. She discussed different skills for work which may relate to space jobs and this led into a discussion around space junk and the issues this may lead to.

Pupils then had an opportunity both weeks to programme  Lego robots to follow different instructions. This involved the use of iPads and coding skills.

These photos, alongside some videos have also been shared to the class team.

Art Lesson

In art p5 have been getting creative with some jewellery making materials.  They explored the given materials and created some interesting design ideas for “mood rings”.

They then made their chosen design ensuring that it fitted on their fingers.

The class really enjoyed the challenge of working with wire and created these fabulous rings 🥰
