Educational Psychologists work at 3 levels:
Local Authority – The Educational Psychology Service contributes to authority level developments in a range of areas relating to the promotion of learning and achievement for all.
Educational Establishment – The Educational Psychology Service works to supports schools and establishments to implement evidence based approaches to teaching and learning and supporting additional support needs. The EPS offers training and advice to build the professional capacity of staff to meet the needs of learners.
Child and family – Where required the Educational Psychology Service will work in collaboration with those who know the child or young person best to contribute to a plan of support for their learning and development.
The Educational Psychology Service uses consultation to negotiate and agree their work with schools and with children and young people. Consultation is a collaborative assessment and intervention model that explores and assesses areas of concern and facilitates the creation of a joint action plan of support.
