To round up our topic on Space, Primary 1 baked cupcakes and designed the icing so that it looked like their favourite planet! We learned about colour theory by mixing blue, yellow and red icing together to make new colours! 

Dogs against drugs.
We had a visit from Dogs against drugs. We got to try own handcuffs and a police jacket. We also met one of the puppies.

We are continuing to learn math’s and phonics in fun ways!

And we are continuing to play! 

Scalloway Fire Festival

We were very excited to take part in the Scalloway Fire Festival celebrations. We walked down to the street to see the galley and later the Vikings came to visit.
We enjoyed hearing the Viking songs and asking the Vikings questions! 

We even made our own galley!

 

 

We have been busy learning about space!

Some of us have made cool Space villages during exploring time! 

We have been learning about Kelso’s choices to help us solve small problems. We acted out small problems and decided how we would solve them using Kelso’s wheel!

Meet our new Primary 1’s! 

Our new Primary 1’s have been very busy in their first term of school! The have enjoyed exploring, creating and learning in their new environment !

Maths 

The class have enjoyed meeting the Ten Town characters and learning numbers up to 10! 

We made healthy fruit kebabs for Fiona 5 in a set of 5!

Play  

Primary 1 were fascinated with all the minibeasts they found in the castle room playground! This inspired us to learn more about bugs!

Bug hotels! 

We also made bug hotels using junk and loose parts! The class had lots of fun doing this! 

The class designed their own bug and shared their designs with their learning partner. Taking it in turns to talk and listen.

Hello Primary 1,

I hope everyone has had a great week and has managed to have lots of fun in the snow! I also hope that everyone is warm and safe!

Miss Fullerton

Primary 1 have had a very busy start to Term 2. We have been learning lots of exciting things!

Through a Talk 4 Writing approach we created our own version of ‘Room on the Broom’.

This term we were also learning about ‘Incredible Inventions‘.

 

We looked at old inventions and were inspired to design our own. We planned, created and presented our inventions. Our friends gave us feedback on our inventions too!

Our new Primary 1’s have had a great start to school and have settled in well to school life. The class are enjoying learning new phonics every week and meeting new Ten Town number characters.

We have been very busy in Primary 1, below are some of the activities we have enjoyed doing!

Trip to Meal Beach

 

Primary 1 had a lovely time with Primary  2 and 3 at Meal Beach in Burra.  The children had such a great time playing , taking part in beach races, picnicking and even taking the bus! Please look at some snapshots from the day! The trip is one of Primary 1’s highlights this year!
