Heritage Center P5/6

Last week, P5/6  went to the Heritage Center. I saw photos of the secondary when it was the Bruce family home and before that house, they lived in my ald granny and da’s house, the Auld Haa. We saw all the Bruce family special stuff. It was old and very cool to look at.

Glasgow science center

The Glasgow science center came up to to the Whalsay school a few days ago. P5/6/7 all went into the hall and they were showing us how your digestion system works someone swallowed a little camera and there was a video for it and we all watched it. Then they were showing us about the intestine so Benjamin had to go up and pull rope from a bag and Billy and Isla had to see if they could eat crackers in a minute they had two crackers.  Then after that the p5s went to room 7 and they were all sorts of games like grip test and who could hold the 1 kilogram for the longest me and Ellyn did it and we got up to 200 seconds there was also a doctors test on a iPad thing I wasn’t good at that. But it was really fun. Heres some pictures.

Glascow Science Center

Hello a few days ago the Glascow science center came to the school.  They showed us about how we digest food and different types of poop. Miss Patterson had to hold poop made with cereal, orange juice, milk and red sauce and bbq sauce.  The man wrapped Miss Pattersons hands up in paper than put the poop in her hands but first you had to squish it up.  Then Benjamin had to pull a rope out of a bag and that was the small intestine.  It is seven in a half meters long.  After that we went to room 7.  We got to look at machines and try them and I got a high score in organ drop, 270 on difficult mode.  My favourite one was the one with weights on it where you lift them I lifted it at the same time.

Assembly

On Friday we had an assembly with Mr. Patterson and he was telling us about what its like to be in different places and he showed us this book and it was like magic and my friend Zak got to go up and try the magic book and if he got the magic wrong Mr Patterson said we would get extra home work and if he got the magic right we would get no home work but sadly he did not get it right.  The good thing is we did not get extra home work so that was good.  It was fun because he was telling us stories about other places and about Jesus. The stories were really interesting and he told us about a man that came and beat up a guy. He was on the road gasping for air and then three people came by and they never helped but an enemy came by and helped the poor man.  He brought him to this place where he payed 2 coins because at the time that was a lot and he said make him feel better.

The point of the story was treat people like your neighbour and the things were be kind, respectful and that’s really all I know about the assembly.
