Eleanor Hutcheon came to our class to help us learn a little more about batteries and circuits.

Batteries

This session introduced the pupils to the concept of a chemical cell.  They had the opportunity to apply their knowledge and build a chemical cell (battery) out of simple materials.  They made a lemon battery that was able to power a clock.

When that was completed they experimented with different fruit and vegetables to see if they got the same results or better.

Circuits

The class then got an introduction to circuits.  They found out what symbols could be used for the different components of a circuit board.
