STEM Visit 26th March

P5/6 had a visit from Eleanor Hutcheon today from STEM Outreach. She taught the class all about circuits and electricity.

We started by standing in a circle to demonstrate how electricity goes around a circuit, using ping-pong balls and cones. We learned lots of new vocabulary, such as electrons and components!

Then we got to try making our own circuits. We used these circuits to light bulbs, power fans, and even play music!

Eleanor then showed us how to make our own game controller out of play dough! Using a circuit, she used play dough to conduct the electricity. The play dough game controller was perfect for playing the piano and Super Mario on the board and we all got to have a try! Who would have thought play dough could be a game controller?

Thanks again to Eleanor and STEM Outreach for this brilliant workshop today – we all loved it!
