Term 2 Class Assembly

On 31st October we not only celebrated Halloween by dressing up, we also had to lead the Assembly.  We chose to do our assembly on our learning from Term 1 – Healthy Eating.

Here are photos of us telling P1, P1/2 and P2/3 all about how to eat a healthy diet using the Eatwell Plate.

Literacy in Term 2

We are learning to add detail and description to our writing by using interesting vocabulary, including adjectives.  We have written about a haunted house and bonfire night so far.

Our class novel is The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark and this is linked to all of our Topic work  – Light and Dark.

Reading books and pages for each week are stuck in the homework diary for the beginning of each new week.  Spelling words for the week are stuck in the homework jotter.

In grammar we are learning about alphabetical order and using  dictionaries.  In handwriting we are practising writing capital letters neatly (always starting from the top )

Term 1 – Healthly Eating

We have had a super busy term learning all about Healthy Eating!  We have learnt all about the Eatwell plate that helps us create a balanced diet.  We did our class assembly about this.

We wanted to taste fruit  and practised cutting it up ourselves.

We decided to work in groups to create our own fruit smoothies.  To help us understand what fruits everyone liked the best we all created class surveys and recorded the votes with  tally marks.  We then worked in groups to come up with Smoothie names and created labels.

We worked together to make our Smoothies.

They were delicious!

We really wanted to make an advert but just ran out of time.  Maybe we will do this later in the year!
