PE Update

Over the past few weeks, our Primary 1 pupils have been enjoying learning through both hockey and basketball. During these lessons, we have been developing agility and manipulative skills, helping the children improve their movement, coordination and confidence when working with equipment.

The children have taken part in a variety of activities focused on spatial awareness, learning how to move safely and effectively within a playing area while being aware of others around them. They have also been developing important ball skills, including controlling, passing and moving with a ball.

Through simple games and challenges, pupils have begun exploring the basic concepts of attacking and defending. These activities have encouraged them to make decisions, work with others and apply their developing skills in fun and engaging situations.

Alongside their physical learning, we have been focusing on our Significant Aspect of Learning, Respect and Tolerance. Pupils are beginning to implement these benchmarks by being encouraged to share equipment, take turns, encourage their classmates and show kindness and understanding towards others during activities.

Art Lesson

In Art we have been spending the past few weeks mixing colours to create different textures, painting tigers and collaging together a picture of a tiger in the jungle which has been inspired by the work of artist Henri Rousseau.  We have been learning how to cut, rip, arrange and stick different materials to create a collage. The final results are awesome, well done!
