Show and Tell

Today it was Primary 1’s turn to share what they were proud of. Everyone tried their best and used skills like looking at their audience and using a prop. Primary 2 were good listeners and asked interesting questions to find out more information. Well done everyone!

STEM Challenge

Co-operative group time today has been about learning to work together and value each others ideas. To do this we had a STEM challenge to build a tower using marshmallows and spaghetti!

Magic Learning (incidental) was about how to make a strong structure and strong shapes to use in our towers.

Everyone worked together well and I was proud of the communication between the children using strong words of encouragement and praise.  We had some successful towers and although some didn’t turn out as expected, we thought about different ways to try again. The class have asked for spaghetti and marshmallows to be left out next week so they can keep trying!

We are Proud!

The theme for Show and Tell this week was “Something I am proud of…”  Primary 2 were a very proud bunch and had lots of great achievements to talk about. Everyone listening was encouraged to think of a question to ask using “Who, What, Where, When, Why or How?”

Well done to everyone! We are looking forward to next week when it is Primary 1’s turn to talk about their achievements.

Play Projects 28/2/20

We have had some wonderful play projects again this afternoon. It was brilliant to hear the cheer when they realised it was time for Play Projects!

Play Projects

Primary 1/2 have recently started to work on Play Projects. Play Projects is an approach to the curriculum created by Greg Bottrill, author of “Can I Go And Play Now” which allows each child to lead their own learning by creating their own play project.

It consists of four main areas; make, build, draw and message and the children can work in any of these areas depending on what they decide to do. Each play project needs a passcode or a magic word and the children choose them depending on their learning.

The children have all been actively learning today, using problem solving, creative thinking, being mindful and using positive feedback with their peers. I can honestly say everyone has ‘been their best’ today! Play projects got a big thumbs up from everyone in the classroom this afternoon!

Don’t Give Up!

Today Primary 1/2 have read “Rosie Revere, Engineer” by Andrea Beaty. We discussed why Rosie felt shy and how we could help if one of our friends felt the same way. We really liked how Rosie didn’t give up after one failure and she kept going and tried again.

To build on this we all became engineers for the afternoon and created some excellent inventions! I was really proud of the class when I heard words of encouragement being exchanged between them and saw them sharing ideas of how to solve problems and add on extras!
