One Snowy Day……….

It was too snowy to stay indoors! so we went out to play……

When we got back in and warmed our fingers we got writing about what we had been doing.

P3/4 on tour

Primary 3-4 went on a bus tour of their local environment

First they visited Anderson and Co and learned all about the job of a butcher and also looked around the shop where they received a piece of fruit for their snack.

They then went to the Wormadale viewpoint to look at the shape of the landscape and islands. However the weather was not great so only a few hardy tourists ventured off the bus.

After that it was back on the bus and over to Shetland Silvercraft where they learned all about how the beautiful local jewellery is made and got to see around the workshop and the shop.

Then it was over to Bonhoga Gallery to see the exhibition by local artists and have a quick look around the shop and café.

The Weisdale Kirk was the next stop and they got to explore the different parts of a church and Reverend Dobbie explained about the role of a minister in the community.

There were lots of hungry children by this point so it was off up to Kergord woods for packed lunches and an extra special playtime amongst the trees.

There was one more stop after lunch to Robinson and Morrisons where the children got to post their own postcards which they had written.  They also learned about food miles and find out the types of things sold in the shop.

It was a very busy but amazing day out for all the pupils. It has led on to fantastic pieces of follow up work in the classroom including writing letters, reports and further research on the different places we visited. Thankyou so much to the local businesses for being so welcoming and accommodating during our mini-tour.
