Free Play!

We have two slots of free play built into everyday which the children love as it gives them time to use all of our resources in and out of the classroom. With the sunny weather we have been trying to get outside very afternoon, they love colouring outside and using the chunky chalk. The blocks and small world toys in our room are also a big hit for everyone! They come up with so many cool ideas, we have had ‘An anything hall’, A pizza shop and a job centre all made in the block area so far this year😃

STEM Challenge 3 – Marshmallow & Spaghetti Towers

This was our 3rd STEM challenge where the pupils had to use spaghetti & marshmallows to make a structure that could stand up on its own. This was great fun and they all tried really hard! All of the structures were so different from each other which made it really interesting to discuss as we could speak about which shapes/designs held up the best. There is a few videos of the pupils telling us about their designs.

STEM Challenge 2 – Tin foil boats

This was our second STEM challenge where the children had to make boats out of tinfoil! The aim was for the boat to hold as many marbles as possible. The winning team ended up having to have a lot more put on their boat as it was just not going down!! Afterwards, we spoke a lot about size/shape and how it affected the strength of each boat.
