3D Shape

For numeracy we are looking at 3D shapes. We know 3D shapes are shapes with three dimensions, such as width, height and depth. Examples of 3D shapes are around us all the time, we could find cubes (dice), cones (cone people Christmas decorations), spheres (class footballs), and lots of cylinders (glue sticks, pens, water bottles and many more!)

We looked at examples of 3D shapes and guessed whether they could roll, stack or do both. We spoke about faces – how many and what shape they were. We then grouped objects according to what shape they were.

To finish off we decorated nets of cubes, cuboids and prisms with Christmas pictures to make gift boxes. We put a sweetie inside each one and we are taking them home to give to a special person.
