South Mainland Success!

Our P7s and P6s competed in the Active Schools Football League earlier this month. They competed against two Scalloway teams and a Hamnavoe team coming away with a clean sheet and 3 out of 3  wins. They worked seamlessly together for this result, playing with confidence, and showing respect to one another and other teams members. We wish them luck on their next fixture which is at Sandwick on 9th March, against Sound School teams.

The team has trained, together with their peers, in the south mainland after school football club, which has run though the winter months. This club is for P5-7 and has been extremely well attended by all three cluster schools.

Thanks to parents/carers and families for supporting the bairns in their achievements.

P1 and P2 Nativity

All the P1 and P2 pupils came together to put on a fantastic Nativity this term. It was called Miracle in Town and was produced by Out of the Ark Music.

Here we are in our dress rehearsal which we invited the Primary classes to come and see. Thank you to Michael and Sanna, our confident volunteer narrators.

Preparations for our Christmas Fayre

P1/2 decided to make biscuits to sell at the Christmas Fayre on 5th December. We learned about food hygiene, ingredients, measuring and taking turns.

We also made boxes to present the biscuits in. They sold like hot cakes –  biscuits 😉 – and we hope you enjoyed yours!

More Reading Buddy Friendship

It is a joy to behold the nurturing way the Primary 6s connect with P1/2 through their buddying roles. It is a super demonstration of the four capacities of the Curriculum for Excellence –  Successful learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens and Effective Contributers.

Reading Buddies

Every Thursday afternoon P1/2 join up with their P6 reading buddies.
This is such a positive experience for all involved and a joy to be part of. The P6s are super role models in every way. Thanks to our librarian, Claire Smith, for facilitating these sessions.
We see –

  • sharing of stories and reading skills
  • building of rapport
  • kind and respectful interactions
  • nurturing relationships
