  1. Explain why you used On Court Drills to develop C.R.E. – what were the benefits of using this approach.

Week 5

Explain why you used Fartlek training to develop C.R.E – what were the benefits of using this approach?

I used the Fartlek training because it is a recognised approach for developing my CRE. The benefits to this approach is having the varied pace, making you work hard, then being able to rest which stimulates your heart rate more. This develops your ability to recover from an intense sprint. Another benefit of Fartlek is the varied pace can be altered depending on how your fitness develops over time.

2. Describe in detail, a Fartlek session that you have completed.

We used the big games hall for our fartlek session. We used one long straight from the hall and sprinted down it. Then at the two short sides we walked, and along the other big straight we jogged. We repeated this for 15 minutes, continuously. The following diagram explains the fartlek drill….

I can completely understand why people are questioning Team GB’s performances at the velodrome. Six gold medals, four silvers and a bronze? This is the third Games running at which we have completely cleaned up.
