Primary 1-3 have been learning about different world religions. We watched a video about Hinduism and a special festival they celebrate called Raksha Bandhan. We made “rakhi” bracelets which are given as gifts to share between close friends. Primary 1-3 will be bringing them home today!
This school year has seen a change in Primary 1-3 as we begin our journey into play-based learning. This video explains a little more about the approach. 🙂
The children loved wearing their pyjamas and taking part in Pudsey Day! We spoke about how Children in Need was all about raising money to help children. We enjoyed visiting the shop and making lots of Pudsey crafts!
The bairns thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a fire pit activity this morning. We have been speaking about how to be around a fire safely this past week and the children were able to apply this knowledge and demonstrate very safe behaviour around the pit. They loved having a go at lighting the fire using a fire steel and then cooking up some snack afterwards.
Here are some quotes from the children –
While making a spark “I am so happy I did it”
“It’s hot”
“Look it’s got colours, orange and yellow”
“You only walk to the fire”
“We need to sit down to put our food on”
“You have to wait, it cools down, you have to blow it”
Hello everybody and welcome to a new term at Mossbank Primary school!
Everyone seems in good spirits and seem to have enjoyed the holidays.
I can’t believe it’s the Christmas term already, even with all the lockdowns this year seems to have flown by.
The termly newsletter has been emailed out and is also in the blog. The new School Improvement plan is also available.
There is a Parent Council EGM on Wednesday 3rd at 7pm via Webex. Unfortunately, at the last meeting we didn’t have enough people to form a committee. The parent council plays an important part in the life of the school – if you can spare an hour to attend we would be delighted.
Let’s hope we can have a settled, Covid-free term!
We set up a simple activity within ELC to allow the bairns to have some practice throwing and aiming using some different sized balls and bean bags. This activity can be done simply by using a bucket and some balls for the bairns to throw in. We added numbers to an upturned table to add in some number recognition as well.
This activity is so simple but has so many benefits such as; builds hand-eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills, spatial awareness, grasping skills, problem-solving skills, balance, and even language and social skills.
