Voar Redd Up

Both Primary classes were involved in the Voar Redd Up last Wednesday. It was a lovely afternoon and once the pupils were kitted out with gloves, high visibility vests and bags we set off.

P1-4 headed in the direction of the shop and spent most of their time clearing the beach and high water mark by the bridge. P5-7 set off along New Road all the way to the Pier. They cleared the beach just past the pier and then returned to clean the beach near the graveyard. The children worked enthusiastically for the whole afternoon and we would also like to thank the parent/carer  volunteers who came along to help.

Children in Need Day

This year we decided to make yellow and spots our theme for Children in Need Day. All the children wearing yellow fairly brightened up a dull day. Donations in the form of loose change were laid out in a Loose Change Trail. Each child placed any coins they had brought in onto the Trail (and then carefully washed their hands!)  Mrs Garrick collected them all up at the end and Norma counted it all up for us. We managed to make the grand total of £122.44. Well done everyone.

Shoeboxes

Happyhansel took part in this year’s Shoebox Appeal.  Thank you  to anyone who donated items. The Pupil Council members from each class are pictured with the boxes below.

A big thanks also needs to go to Amy, Sadie and their mum for helping Mrs Garrick assemble the boxes.

Shoe Box Appeal – November 2019

Every year Happyhansel takes part in the Blythswood Trust Shoe Box Appeal. Donations of everyday items that we may take for granted such as toothbrushes, soap, gloves and sweets are collected in school. Then shoe boxes, are covered in wrapping paper and  filled up with items for a person of a certain age and gender. These are gathered in Shetland and then transported down to the Scottish mainland before being taken on wards to their recipients  in Eastern Europe.
