The term is flying in! Although the weather hasn’t maybe been the best we have been very busy outdoors. We have lots of seeds planted inside, for going outside soon, and, tatties, cabbage, leeks and carrots set outside. Keeping our sustainability theme running through the whole project we are using recycled polystyrene planters and barrels from the salmon industry for growing in. Our pupils are hoping that we can eat some of our produce as part of our school lunches. Fingers crossed. We are also sharing our learning with 3 other schools – Ntutti in Kenya, Aith in Shetland and St Cuthberts in Glasgow. Our classrooms are connected through a British Council Project. It is very early in our partnerships but we hope they will flourish and develop over the years. Pupils are getting to know each other through their glowmails and will be coming together in a Teams assembly.
We have also started work on redesigning our school murals. With the help of the Gaada Gallery artists, Amy and Vivienne, our pupils are all contributing to three large murals on the theme of our school. Every pupil will have their work incorporated into the murals which will be professionally painted by the Gaada artists in their studios. Pupils will also be involved in promoting the unveiling later in June.
Our P7’s have all had their visit to the Anderson High School and are looking forwards to starting in August. Mrs Malcolmson is doing an excellent job getting them ready for their transition. Our new P1’s will also be starting their transition soon. They will be visiting the school grounds for outdoor learning and getting to know our staff and the outdoor spaces. We are really excited to welcome our new pupils. A virtual parents night for our P1’s will take place on Wednesday the 9th of June.
