Inspired by these amazing sea creatures, here’s our factfile on the Starfish and Sea Lemon we found in the rockpools… by A.G. (P1)
Remote learning
This week we started our remote learning challenges. The first was to write in water outside. It’s a race against the sun and wind to make your words visible before the weather dries it away!
Outdoor Learning
We don’t always have to do our reading sitting at a desk! This was our afternoon of World Book Day, sharing books in our den…
Making the most of the outdoor environment for exercise and wellbeing
Sometimes we take a hike up one of the hills. Here you can see our school, ferry and Shetland Mainland in the distance.
This is our polycrub where we planted fruit, vegetables and flowers. The community share it and grow lovely things like strawberries and juicy apples.
We enjoy writing with water
This is our “shed” challenge – to paint in water on the shed (or anywhere else)… some “…shed” words (pushed, wished, finished…)
It’s a race against time to finish your words before the sun and wind dry them up! Our lesson on evaporation is coming to life before our eyes!
Hello world!
Welcome to Foula
Our school is at the “Edge of the World” – a peerie island 30 miles west of the Shetland mainland.
Sometimes maps place Foula inside a box, which is inside another box for Shetland! Here we are shown accurately by the red tag, out in the Norwegian Sea.
The rocks below are our home. Home too to many Shetland ponies, sheep and birds. A welcome awaits visitors from the warm-hearted people, peerie ponies, laid back chickens, playful rabbits and the friendliest sheep. Be careful you don’t lose your hat to a dive-bombing bonxie, though! The island is inhabited by so many birds it takes its name from this fact.
