Unfortunately when we arrived this morning, we found out that Fair Isle and Foula couldn’t join us due to issues with flights and bad weather. Mrs Lewis couldn’t get to Fair Isle, so she spent the day with us as well!

The day started with a visit to the street. We went to the post office, and did some quick shopping.

Because the others couldn’t join us we had some ‘spare’ time, Mrs Hay arranged a visit to see around the Anderson High, we saw lots of people we already knew, and the classrooms were amazing! We really liked the library, it was beautiful.

In the afternoon we went swimming and had the best lesson ever, we even got use the rapids and the flumes!

After a dash back to the hostel for tea, it was off to bowling.

John spent a lot of time helping us improve our technique, and we worked really hard at getting the angle and force right.

In the evening we had supper at the hostel, saw our friends there and got a tour. Hot chocolate and chats before bed!

Patrick’s Party

Over the last 6 months, Patrick, the Assistant RSPB Warden  has been a fantastic resource for the school. As part of his work in the community he has helped us learning about local wildlife, visiting the birdhide to look for Snipe, helping with Voar Redd Up, Otter trecking and giving advice whenever asked. Patrick came along to school today to say goodbye as his contract with RSPB ends, and we all wanted to say a big thank you!

We went down to ‘Fetlar Forest’ and learned about some of the different trees there. We found fir, spruce and rowan trees.

Yell Show

After preparing for the last two weeks, deciding what to enter, choosing our tatties and carrots, selecting art work, making sculptures, making cards, taking photos, editing photos, decorating baskets and baking bannocks, we put our entries to the show.

It was a fantastic day – lots of sunshine along with amazing art work and entries from all over Shetland.

We were all delighted to take part, and even got a few red, blue and yellow tickets!
