Reading the scale to weigh out the flour
Lots of rolling and cutting…which shapes will we need to make our castles?
Time to cool down!
This term we have been working with Cullivoe Primary learning about the refugee crisis and how it impacts on childrens rights.
We have made a video for Amber Rudd, and have sent it to Tavish Scott and Alistair Carmichael, asking them to pass it on in Westminster and Hollyrood.
As part of our work towards our level 2 RRSA award we have been working with Cullivoe Primary School. We went out to visit them and learn more about campaigning for childrens rights.
We worked in pairs to find out about different people who had moved or been refugees, like Mo Fara, Rita Orra and Albert Einstien.
As part of the Outright Campaign we will be writing to Amber Rudd, the Home Secratary, to ask for her support for refugee children in Europe and reunification for children and their families.
The highlight of today was the visit to Tesco for the Farm to Fork workshop.
Everyone in the shop was dressed up for Halloween!
We had a tour of the store, learned about where different foods came from, tasted lots of new things and had a go at making our own coleslaw! It was delicious 😋

Our day started with a quick visit to Bells Brae Primary. We joined in watching the Northumberland Ranters with primary 4-7.
We  had another fantastic swimming lesson. We even got to snorkel!
Super fast lunch!
Our Litteral Art workshop with Julia Barton at Da Gaddery was really interesting, we worked with Nesting Primary School.
We also got a chance to see some other art.
On the walk back to the hostel we went through Fort Charlotte,
and then we were back ‘home’.
Foula Primary managed to get a flight out to join us, so we saved them some fish and chips!
Joy Duncan came for a drumming session, and some of the older hostel ones joined us 🙂
Another super day – last day tomorrow before heading home!
Unfortunately when we arrived this morning, we found out that Fair Isle and Foula couldn’t join us due to issues with flights and bad weather. Mrs Lewis couldn’t get to Fair Isle, so she spent the day with us as well!
The day started with a visit to the street. We went to the post office, and did some quick shopping.
Because the others couldn’t join us we had some ‘spare’ time, Mrs Hay arranged a visit to see around the Anderson High, we saw lots of people we already knew, and the classrooms were amazing! We really liked the library, it was beautiful.
In the afternoon we went swimming and had the best lesson ever, we even got use the rapids and the flumes!
After a dash back to the hostel for tea, it was off to bowling.
John spent a lot of time helping us improve our technique, and we worked really hard at getting the angle and force right.
In the evening we had supper at the hostel, saw our friends there and got a tour. Hot chocolate and chats before bed!
We’ve been raising money for the British Heart Foundation, and today we had our sponcered skip.
We skipped from the school to the hall this morning, and even had some visitors to cheer us on.
Sponcer money is now being collected, 80% to the BHF, and 20% for school which will go towards our fundraising for Edinburgh.
Thank you to everyone who supported us!
Fetlar Barins are planning to go Guizing on the 29th of October, between 4.45 and 7pm.
If you would particularly like a visit, or prefer us NOT to come along, please let us know at the school!
