Hello! Thank you so much for visiting our website and a very warm welcome from the UK’s most remote primary school! We are a peerie (that’s Shetland dialect for small) non-denominational school situated on Fair Isle, Shetland. At present, we have 3 wonderful children in our multi-composite primary class with 1 pre-school child in our nursery. We are also part of a Shared Headship and are linked with Sandwick Junior High School on Mainland Shetland. Our children love nothing more than being outdoors, leading their learning and being curious about the beautiful environment they live in.
Fair Isle is Britain’s most remote-inhabited island. It is three miles long and one mile wide. There is approximately 26 miles of coastline if you walk every bay and headland. Fair Isle is situated almost halfway between mainland Shetland and the island of North Ronaldsay in Orkney; it is approximately 25 miles away from both. If you travel west from Fair Isle, the next land you would reach is Canada. Directly east is Norway.
