Here is a little snap shot of what the children have been up to this week.

Tuesday is Library day.  The children all enjoy getting to go into the school library to pick a story for home and help check the books out.  It is also great opportunity to build up the children’s awareness of other areas within the school.

The children made some fresh playdough this week and had great fun making lots of different models and treats.  Some of the children used some of the loose parts to add to their ‘pizzas’ and ‘cupcakes’ that they were making.  Playing with playdough also helps develop the small muscles in their hands, which are the same muscles they will use for writing and holding a pencil.

The children have been very busy in the porch this week.  Lots of water play with the sea animals, as well as lots of interest in filling up and pouring different sized jugs and containers.  Pouring activities can help children learn to coordinate their hand movements with what they see.

Some of the children had asked to go for a walk, so we all got on our hi-vis on Friday and set off to see what we could see.   It also gave an opportunity to talk about road safety.  We all stopped, looked and listened before crossing the roads.

On the walk the the children spotted the different flowers and looked out for the bees busy at work.  As we headed past the loch we were all on the look out for the crocodile poking its head out the water!
