Friday 7th June

This week the children have started looking after a sourdough starter called Doughreen.  They have been feeding Doughreen everyday and on Thursday started measuring out the ingredients and folding dough ready to make their loaf of bread for their snack today.  The children all gave the bread two thumbs up today.  The children will be making more things with Doughreen over the coming weeks.

The children always enjoy getting their hands mucky and getting stuck into sensory play.  There has been lots of painting.   They have been painting with foam and using the tough tray as an art easel.  The children also requested to make some slime.  There was lots of great descriptive language as they talked about how it felt; ” It’s so slimy and stretchy”, “sticky, slimy, slime”, “it looks like Halloween”.

The children have all been very engaged with board games and puzzles this week.  Board games are a great way to help develop the children’s turn taking and problem solving skills as well as supporting language development.

Here is a few more pictures of what the children have been up to this week.
