Today we set up some winter pattern making activities at the tinkering table. Some of the children chose to copy some of the pattern examples, while others decided to create their own repeating patterns. There was lots of careful thinking and sorting as they experimented with what came next in their patterns.

Later on, we added a musical twist to pattern making and watched a very funny song called “Banana, meatballs”. We had to listen closely to the words and copy the movement patterns. It was lots of fun.
We then had a chance to make our own “banana, meatball” patterns and challenged our friends to see if they could copy our movement patterns.

This was a fun way to help develop an understanding of sequencing and pattern making.
