Thursday 30th October

Welcome back after the October Holidays.  We hope  you have all had a lovely break.

This term we have introduced clay into the setting. Clay offers a different sensory experience to playdough with it being more firm but still malleable for the children to use.

There was lots of super descriptive language used as they explore the clay and its texture.

“It feels like concrete”

“it feels soft”

“It’s strong”

The children went on to create some wonderful pieces, with one of the children even leading a small art class on making a little teapot with the clay.

“First you do a ball,  then you flatten a piece, then you push it on top, then you need another ball that’s tiny and stick it on top, then you make a handle and this bit and stick it on like this.  Then you made a teapot”

“i had fun with the clay”

“i am a maker”

We will be exploring the clay a lot more throughout the term.
