Music Classes Term 4
One of the highlights of term four was having our student, Mr Ankers in to help with classes. He was so kind and helpful and showed some classes his double bass, how to conduct and gave the upper Primary classes tips on composing.
P1/2 have done lots of singing, played percussion instruments and used the kitchen roll tubes to learn more about beat, rhythm, dynamics and tempo. They were delighted to have some P6/7 helpers in and we enjoyed learning about some of the instruments they play and having them present lessons to us. What a talented bunch!
P234 have also done lots of singing including some Shetland songs to link with their class topic and Mrs Inkster was very impressed with the songs they composed with Claire White. They also had the P6/7 pupils in to assist again and some of these pupils even devised their own lessons for the class. Thank you so much for this. We played the ukulele, the glockenspiels and lots of percussion instruments and had fun outside with the parachute and playing musical ball games when it was nice weather.
P4-7 have been learning about Samba and Mambo music from South America – maybe this brought the nice weather! They then went into groups to compose their own pieces using rhythms from these styles of music.
In the final few weeks the classes have been learning the Trowie Song and we’ve also played some musical games throughout the term. P7 have been working hard on their Leaver’s Song for Assembly in recent weeks.
And finally, a special thank you to the after school singing group and to Alice Ritch for helping out. We have such good fun singing songs from ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’ to ‘Wonderwall’ and there has also been lots of lovely performances from pupils in the group. They performed brilliantly to Mrs Smith and family members at their peerie concert and thank you Honey for making up the beautiful programme.
