We were delighted to welcome our new music teacher, Mrs Garrick who led an engaging session featuring Heads, Shoulders, Knees & Toes, High & Low and Snail on a Leaf.  Not only did the bairns sing along but there were plenty of energetic dance moves.

We took full advantage of our outdoor spaces, both within the garden and beyond within the local community.  The bairns filled the new planters in the polycrub with soil, went for a walk to see the lambs and enjoyed time in the playground.

We saw many forms of mark making and creativity taking place this week using a variety of resources, including paint, sand, pens and origami.  Expressive art is always popular and it’s great to see the bairns engaging in so many different ways.

We were excited to welcome the bairns back after the Easter holidays and hear all their news.  It seems the Easter Bunny had been busy delivering eggs.

We’ve been making the most of the lovely weather and enjoying time outside.  The bairns have been using the new sand pit and stone pit, adding resources from the small world area, digging and transporting using spades.

The literacy table has been popular for mark making in the sand and using chalk to draw patterns.

The bairns are keen to see our frogspawn turn into frogs and this means weekly trips to the burn to collect fresh water.  While there, some bairns wanted to explore the burn for themselves.  This was a tricky activity as the stones under the water were very slippery and all the balancing activities at nursery were put to good use to stay upright.

One of the bairns asked “can we do yoga?” and the group agreed on a Spring episode.  There was lots of great stretching, moving into different positions quickly and following along with the story of finding the missing Easter eggs.
