Our first week of the new term has been filled with new adventures, exploration and getting to know our new friends. We welcomed our bairns and families, including our new families, giving them time to familiarise themselves with the routines of the nursery and reconnect with staff and peers.
We took a walk to our raised bed at the Salvation Army poly tunnel. The bairns took up some tatties with hand forks and there was much excitement when a tattie appeared from the earth. We gathered them into a pot and the bairns asked to make “chippies” for snack. We also brought back some carrots which were boiled up for snack too. The bairns recognised some of the fruit and vegetables in the poly tunnel including strawberries and cabbage. The bairns used the hose to water the produce, and Mrs Malcolmson! The tatties that had turned green were taken to the mud kitchen and the rest of the produce is in the Nursery honesty cupboard.
