Week three

Primary 3/4 Weekly Round-Up 🌟

Another busy and fun-filled week in Primary 3/4! The children have been learning in lots of different ways, showing great curiosity and teamwork. Here’s a little peek at what we’ve been up to:

✏️ Literacy & Spelling
We’ve been practising more tricky words this week, finding creative ways to help us remember them.  We have been focusing on adding exciting sentence openers in our writing. Our magical dragon friend also returned, bringing us new stories and writing challenges. The class is helping him save Fairyland by reading and writing fairy tales — and their imaginations have been truly wonderful! They have even made clay fairyland items today!

🔢 Maths
This week we completed some assessments to help Mrs Teale check what we’ve learned so far and what we still need to cover.  Alongside this, we have been learning how to gather data from our science  experiments  and Heath and Wellbeing lesson and display it in bar graphs. The children enjoyed seeing how numbers and science can work together to help us make sense of our results.

🌱 Our Topic – Plants
In our science work, we’ve been busy setting up experiments! The celery experiment is helping us see how water travels through a plant’s stem to reach the leaves, teaching us about water transportation and why it is vital for survival. We’ve also been planting beans to investigate roots — looking closely at how they anchor a plant, absorb water, and provide nutrients. The children are acting like real scientists, making predictions, observing carefully, and recording what they notice as our experiments develop.

đź’– Health & Wellbeing
We continue to grow as a class family by building trust, respect, and kindness. This week, we had thoughtful discussions about how everyone’s opinions can be different — and why it’s important to listen and show respect to each other’s views.

It’s been another fantastic week of learning, exploring, and caring for one another. We can’t wait to see what next week brings! 🌟

Week Two

Primary 3/4 Weekly Round-Up 🌟

What a busy and exciting week it has been in Primary 3/4! The children have been working hard, having fun, and building our class community together. Here’s a little snapshot of what we’ve been up to:

✏️ Literacy & Spelling

We’ve been tackling some tricky words this week, practising them in different ways to help us remember spellings. Homework booklets have also gone home, giving everyone a chance to keep practising at home.

🔢 Maths

In maths, we’ve been focusing on place value. The children played some fun games to consolidate their understanding, helping them to see how numbers are made up of tens and ones. We also continued our exploration of time with a time scavenger hunt – a great way to spot clocks in action around us and test our knowledge.

🌱 Our Topic – Plants

We introduced our new topic all about plants. This week we explored leaves in playful and hands-on ways: looking closely with magnifying glasses, comparing their shapes and textures, and even using them to make magical “potions.” The children loved investigating and discovering just how interesting leaves can be! We were also  learning about roots and have experimented with some planting.

đź’– Health & Wellbeing

We’ve been talking about kindness and respect as we start to build our class family. The children shared thoughtful ideas about how we can take care of one another and make our classroom a happy, welcoming place for everyone.

It’s been a fantastic week full of curiosity, teamwork, and creativity. We’re really looking forward to seeing where our learning takes us next! 🌟

Week one

We’ve had a fantastic first week in Primary 3/4, filled with fun, creativity, and learning!

We started by getting to know each other and wrote some wonderful letters to Mrs Teale, sharing all about ourselves.

Our reading focused on the story Wordy Birdy, inspiring us to create some fantastic art and explore why being a great listener is so important.

On Thursday afternoon, we revisited our knowledge of time by making playdough clocks. Afterward, we enjoyed some free play with the dough, using our imaginations to create and mould different shapes. We wrapped up the day with an energetic and joyful dough disco!

What a ‘smashing’ start to our Primary 3/4 journey!
